Alliance Testifying on Public Land Use Planning in Senate Subcommittee

June 20, 2016

DENVER – Western Energy Alliance will testify at a hearing on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Planning 2.0 initiative before the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands, Forests, and Mining. The hearing will take place Tuesday, June 21st at 2:30 p.m. ET. A live and archived webcast of the hearing will be available on the committee’s website.

Kathleen Sgamma, vice president of government and public affairs at the Alliance, will testify that, “BLM’s Planning 2.0 initiative would elevate wildlife and preservationist values over the needs of people. It redefines the concept of multiple use, prioritizes preservation over responsible development of the food, fuel and fiber that support human life, limits public involvement in the planning process, and further strains overburdened BLM staff.”

Her full testimony is available on the Alliance’s website.
