Tim Wigley to head region's largest oil and natural gas advocacy group

(DENVER) – Western Energy Alliance announced that its Board of Directors has selected Tim Wigley as its new President. Wigley will oversee the 400 company trade association and its efforts to promote the enormous energy potential of the West.

"We are proud to have Tim join the professional staff at Western Energy Alliance," said Tom Sheffield, Vice President, Western Division, Pioneer Natural Resources Company and Chair of Western Energy Alliance's Board of Directors. "Tim joins the organization at a time of strength, and we look to him to lead it to the next level. We have great confidence that his experience in public outreach will help us further educate the public and policymakers on the real potential of western oil and natural gas, and the solutions producers provide to our nation's most pressing economic and security challenges."

"It is an honor to be asked to lead an organization of this caliber at such a crucial time," said Wigley. "By 2020, the West could produce as much oil and natural gas on a daily basis as the U.S. imports from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Venezuela, Algeria, Nigeria, and Colombia combined, but we need to properly align government policies with the resource potential and industry's capabilities. I look forward to helping make these exciting projections a reality."

Wigley comes to Western Energy Alliance from PAC/WEST, where he managed the firm's Washington, D.C. operations. He has extensive experience in educating policymakers on energy, forest management, mining, and manufacturing issues. From 1998-2002, Tim served as the president of the Oregon Forest Industries Council, an organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the interests of industrial forestland owners.
