Western Energy Alliance Congratulates U.S. House on Passage of The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act

June 21, 2012

(DENVER)- Today, Western Energy Alliance congratulated the U.S. House of Representatives on its passage of H.R. 4480, The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act. Western Energy Alliance thanks the sponsors of the individual bills that contain key elements on permitting, leasing, and overall energy planning including members of the Colorado delegation – Congressmen Coffman, Gardner, Lamborn, and Tipton; House Natural Resources Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-4); and Congressman Bill Johnson (OH-6).

"The bill goes a long way toward introducing greater certainty for the responsible development of American oil and natural gas on public lands," said Kathleen Sgamma, Vice President of Government & Public Affairs. "Western Energy Alliance is pleased to see Congress moving to add regularity to the federal planning, leasing and permitting processes. The bill also reduces uncertainty from frivolous lawsuits that prevent job creation and economic growth in the West. We call on the Senate to quickly take up and pass this job-creating bill."
