Western Energy Alliance Testifying at Hearing on Modernizing Environmental Analysis in Denver
DENVER – Western Energy Alliance will testify at a public hearing hosted by the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) on a proposed federal rule to modernize environmental analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The public hearing takes place 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 11th at the Environmental Protection Agency’s Region 8 headquarters in downtown Denver.
Tripp Parks, Western Energy Alliance vice president of government affairs, will testify at the hearing in support of the modernization of regulations for the fifty-year-old law. Environmental analyses take years to complete and too often are used by those who oppose any and all development to delay or cancel critical infrastructure projects. The proposed rules will limit the time it takes to complete NEPA analyses while focusing the scope on environmental impacts actually related to proposed projects, not speculative too far in time or cause. The rule will enable federal agencies to reach decisions within reasonable timeframes while ensuring environmental protection.
Western Energy Alliance President Kathleen Sgamma will be available outside the hearing starting at 8:30 for questions from media.
