DENVER – Western Energy Alliance today applauded the U.S. Senate for passing a budget reconciliation package that advances oil and natural gas production on federal public lands. The trade association released the following statement from President Melissa Simpson in support of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”:

“Today is a great snapshot of exactly how important energy is in America. We’re witnessing summer heat waves, strains on the electrical grid, and families are traveling for the July Fourth holiday. In DC, senators responded by moving a monumental bill that’ll unleash the energy we need. We’re especially pleased with provisions promoting oil and natural gas production on public lands, including the section enabling commingling of equipment on federal and non-federal lands. This will help energy producers further reduce their footprint on the land, pass on savings to customers, and further reduce emissions. The bill also halts the excessive tax on natural gas that was inserted in the Inflation Reduction Act to target small, family-owned businesses that produce approximately 10 percent of our nation’s oil and natural gas. We look forward to the House taking up the bill and quickly sending it to President Trump to sign into law.”
