Oxy CEO Vicki Hollub Honored as Wildcatter of the Year
October 30, 2025
DENVER – Western Energy Alliance will honor Vicki Hollub, president and chief executive officer of Occidental (Oxy), with the Wildcatter of the Year award in recognition of her more than 40 years of achievements in business and community engagement. The Wildcatter is the trade association’s highest recognition, and it is reserved for the most prominent leaders in the western oil and natural gas industry. The Alliance will recognize Hollub along with four emerging Leaders of the West during a formal gala on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Hollub began her career in the oil and natural gas industry at Cities Service, and following a corporate acquisition she joined Oxy. She has held a variety of management and technical positions within Oxy’s oil and natural gas, chemical, and midstream operations with responsibilities on three continents, including roles in North America, the Middle East, and Latin America. Since 2015, she has served on Oxy’s board of directors. As a distinguished leader in the West, Hollub has established a record of success identifying accretive acquisitions and strategically managing operations in the Permian, Powder River, and Denver-Julesburg basins.
“Vicki embodies everything the Wildcatter award stands for in terms of operational excellence and caring for the community. She and her team are recognized as industry leaders,” said Melissa Simpson, president of the Alliance. “Vicki has established a culture of environmental stewardship with a local and global perspective. Throughout her tenure, Oxy has led our industry in developing technologies that allow for increased energy production while prioritizing innovative surface designs, reduced water usage, and carbon capture technologies. Just as importantly, while at the helm of Oxy, Vicki has concentrated on giving back. She and her team have invested several million dollars into organizations on the ground and in the streets, all under the mission to ‘Commit to Good.’ As a result, multitudes of people have benefited from Oxy’s support. Vicki Hollub is truly deserving of the Wildcatter award, and we’re honored to celebrate her accomplished career.”
Oxy stands as an environmental leader that continuously innovates to protect land, water, and air. According to Colorado’s emissions inventory data, the company has the lowest greenhouse gas intensity in the state, and it was the first oil and natural gas company to endorse the World Bank’s “Zero Routine Flaring by 2030” initiative. Oxy is working with the University of Wyoming to develop carbon management technologies, and its subsidiary Low Carbon Ventures is advancing carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies that remove carbon dioxide from the air.
Under Hollub’s leadership, Oxy has been a strong community champion. The company has committed significant financial and staff volunteer resources to a range of organizations focused on education, health and safety, social services, military and veterans, environment and conservation, arts and culture, and civic goodwill. Hollub and her team are making a difference in the lives of children, seniors, and economically vulnerable individuals in the regions where the company operates and beyond.
Recognized as a corporate leader, Hollub also serves on the boards of Lockheed Martin and the American Petroleum Institute. She is a member of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative, a CEO-led initiative focused on net zero initiatives, and she has chaired the World Economic Forum’s Oil and Gas Community. She earned a Bachelor of Science in mineral engineering from the University of Alabama.

About the Wildcatter of the Year Award
The title Wildcatter of the Year is reserved only for the most prominent leaders in the western oil and natural gas industry whose entrepreneurial and exploratory spirit have contributed significantly to America’s energy security and the betterment of society. The term “wildcatter” originates from the 1880s when independent speculators ranged across the West in hopes of discovering new or unproven oil reserves. The Wildcatter of the Year is not only a leader in industry, but a role model in the community as well, demonstrating leadership both on and off the oilfield.
